About
The platform Casting Screens serves as a digital exhibition space of artistic screencasts – the form of video documentation for our digital lives. This platform investigates multiple questions:
How do artists process and explore digital culture through screen recordings? What is the role and relevance of screencasts as an artistic medium for the depiction of digital culture? In which ways is this relatively young medium being used artistically?
The platform merges the digital exhibition of artworks and theoretical reflections, which examine the topic of Screencasting from various points of view. In these, the different possibilities of interaction between man and machine, the obvious and the speculative in digital works shall become visible.

The title of the video piece ‘you froze my laptop’ is a reference to the online dating world and the realness of emotional impacts it evokes.
An online character is going through various stages of a love spiral, paired with self-involvement, self-pity and self-reflectance. Indulging in the drama, the story unfolds. Desktop backgrounds change as fast as future thoughts and past emotions. Always taking statements a teeny-tiny step too far, crossing over various lines, but in a chat room, who minds?
Anna Regner is a multimedia artist, originally from Vienna and studying at HFBK Hamburg and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Her work is based on storytelling in combination with online footage and self-composed music, mostly in the formats of video and installation. Her texts are seemingly on the edge of reality and imagination, private and public, give insights into different realities and the everyday of post-digital existence and constitute a female, feminist search of identity. Thereby they raise questions about the abstraction yet relevance of virtually revealed emotions, the labour hidden in the creation of femininity and compositions of life itself.
